SEATTLE — A man was stabbed in the neck during a fight in downtown Seattle Tuesday morning — and the stabbing suspect was shot by police.
At around 7:45am, officers responded to a 911 call about a stabbing near the intersection of Second Avenue and Cherry Street.
Responding officers found a 39-year-old man who had been stabbed in the neck and rendered aid until Seattle Fire Department crews arrived and took him to Harborview Medical Center in “stable condition.”
Shortly after arriving at the scene, witnesses told responding officers the stabbing suspect was seen few blocks away near the intersection of First Avenue and Spring Street.
Officers located the suspect near the intersection and that “an officer involved shooting occurred.”
The 39-year-old suspect was treated for injuries and has been taken to Harborview in critical condition, according to authorities.
A knife was recovered from the scene. It is currently unknown how many times the suspect was shot by officers.
An investigation is ongoing.
