Man steals cross from Los Angeles chapel on Holy Thursday

The Los Angeles Police Department has released video of a man who walked into a chapel and stole a large metal cross last week, with the aim of locating him and recovering the valuable religious object.

According to police, the theft occurred on Thursday, April 17, shortly after the Holy Thursday Service at St. Camillus Center for Spiritual Care on Zonal Avenue, near L.A. General Medical Center.

Security footage shows the thief, described only as a Black or Hispanic male, casually walking up to the altar, grabbing the Eucharist cross, and then exiting through the chapel’s front door. The chapel was empty at the time.
