Man with scissors shot and killed by LA County sheriff’s deputy in Paramount: videos
The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department’s released body cam videos of the fatal shooting of a man holding a pair of scissors in Paramount on August 4.
Deputies responded to the 8400 block of Quimby Street just after 9 p.m., and on scene, a man told officials that he’d been punched in the face by his 30-year-old son after a verbal argument.
In the backyard, deputies located the son, Julio Palomares, and found he was “armed with one pair of scissors approximately 8 inches in total length,” the release said.
The younger man “immediately and aggressively advanced toward deputy personnel” despite the use of a less-lethal stun gun, prompting at least one deputy to open fire and strike the man at least once.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
