Marijuana thief leads Wyandotte police on high-speed chase
WYANDOTTE, MI — A suspect accused of stealing marijuana plants from a Michigan home — was arrested Monday after leading police on a high-speed chase across several jurisdictions.
Police said a Wyandotte officer spotted a suspicious van in an alley in the 900 block of Maple just before 5am Monday.
Upon investigating, he found two men stealing full grown marijuana plants from a home that has a legal grow, police said.
When the officer ordered the suspects to show their hands, one fled on foot and the other sped away in the van, police said.
The officer chased the van through Wyandotte, Ecorse, River Rouge, Detroit, and Dearborn.
Police said the suspect, later identified as 28-year-old Edgar Ismael Lebron, smashed into two vehicles, including a patrol car, construction barrels and a tree at separate times throughout the pursuit.
According to FOX 2 Detroit, Lebron was arraigned Wednesday and charged with assault with a dangerous weapon, fleeing and eluding, breaking and entering and other offenses.
He is being held without bond. The other suspect who fled on foot has yet to be identified by police.
