ALABAMA – A Mobile police officer has been placed on administrative leave after video showed him beating a handcuffed man during an arrest last week.
According to the Mobile Police, officers conducted a traffic stop near the corner of Dauphin Island Parkway and Halls Mill Road shortly after 5:30pm last Thursday.
Officers on the scene detected the presence of marijuana and asked both the driver and passenger to exit the vehicle.
The driver, Beezer Earl Dubose Jr., 36, was arrested on charges of speeding, assault, possession of marijuana and resisting arrest.
Initial court filings claim that as he was being placed under arrest by Mobile officer Paul Callegari, Dubose reportedly grabbed Callegari’s “testicles and penis and twisted them, causing serious physical pain.”
Dubose was taken to Mobile Metro Jail and later released after posting $16,800 bond.
An investigation is ongoing.
