A mother and a child were seriously injured following a wild boar attack in Indonesia.

“A woman named Misna (41) and her child, Zahlia (4) suffered injuries after being gored by a wild boar that entered a residential area in Ternate City, North Maluku. Zahlia had to be rushed to Chasan Boesoirie Ternate Regional Hospital to receive medical treatment.

The incident occurred in RT 003 Rua Village, Pulau Ternate District, Ternate City on Wednesday (26/2) at around 07.30 WIT. The wild boar suddenly appeared on the road and entered the residents’ settlement.

“Initially, a resident named Budi saw a wild boar crossing the road and entering the village, then heading towards the victim, Mrs. Misna and her child, Zahlia,” said Ternate Island Police Chief.

Iwan said the wild boar went berserk and pounced on both victims. Zahlia’s clothes were torn and the victim was covered in blood because she was bitten repeatedly by the boar.

“He tore the clothes until the body (of the victim) was covered in blood. Then Budi shouted for help from local residents, that there was a pig attacking Mrs. Misna and her child,” he explained.

Residents then came to save the two victims. Residents beat the pig using wood and threw stones at it until it died.

“After a few minutes, the pig was successfully killed. Meanwhile, the two victims were immediately rushed to the hospital,” he added.
