New Orleans store employee shoots two armed robbery suspects, one fatally

NEW ORLEANS – A store employee shot two armed robbery suspects Tuesday night in New Orleans East, leaving one suspect dead and another in custody, according to police.

The incident happened around 7:50 p.m. at Sam’s Meat Market in the 8400 block of South I-10 Service Road.

Police say two individuals attempted to rob the business when a worker in the store, armed with a gun, confronted them.

The employee fired at both suspects, striking them.

One suspect, a juvenile, was taken to the hospital where he later died. The second, 18-year-old Teony Juarez, was arrested by officers.

Juarez was booked on four felony counts including armed robbery, armed robbery with a gun, aggravated assault with a firearm, and illegal use of a weapon.
