KALAMAZOO, Mich. — New video shows the moment a driver crashed into a Speedway gas station on March 19, injuring multiple people.
Officers were called to the crash on South Westnedge Avenue near Denway Drive at about 1 p.m. on March 19.
When they arrived, public safety officers found multiple people, motorcycles and cars had been hit after a driver veered off the street and crashed into a gas pump, according to KDPS.
No one was killed in the crash, but seven people had to be treated for injuries on scene. One motorcyclist was hospitalized and has since been released.
A man pumping gas that was struck by the car was also hospitalized.
He remained in critical condition for weeks, but has since been released from the hospital and is recovering through physical rehabilitation, public safety officers said.
The driver who crashed into the gas station was last known to be cooperating with investigators, but as of Wednesday, no arrests have been made.
Officers are awaiting forensic and toxicology reports to move the investigation forward, according to KDPS Public Information Officer Zach Hamelton.
“We appreciate the public’s continued patience as cases like these take time to fully determine the cause,” officers said March 20. “Once that information is available, an update will be provided.”
