NYPD officer seriously injured after getting crushed by precinct garage door

An NYPD officer was seriously injured after getting crushed by a garage door at the 78 Precinct in Gowanus Wednesday night.

Authorities say the incident occurred at around 7:20am.

The officer was walking to a police van inside the garage when the metal roll-down gate came crashing down, pinning her leg, police said.

Officers on scene were able to free the officer, who was taken to New York-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital where she is now in stable condition.

She suffered a severe injury to her leg, police said.
