BROOKLYN — An NYPD officer was struck in the head with a glass bottle in an unprovoked attack early Sunday morning, bodycam video released shows.
Officers were on patrol to “address community concerns” near East 51st Street and Church Avenue in Flatbush, when they encountered a man wearing a tye-dye shirt at around 4:45am.
Body worn camera video shows the man, identified as Tyshaun Holloway of Hackensack, New Jersey, apparently speaking with two officers before striking one of them on the head with a glass bottle and taking off running.
Other officers chased down Holloway and arrested him.
The officer received lacerations to the neck and head which required stitches and staples, the NYPD said.
Holloway was charged with assault, menacing, resisting arrest, obstructing governmental administration and criminal possession of a weapon.
Holloway had prior arrests related to assaulting police officers in the Bronx, police said.
