NEW YORK – The NYPD released body cam video of a shooting involving a knife-wielding man who reportedly stabbed a church security guard in the stomach in Queens last April.
Officers opened fire on 59-year-old Richard Moncrieffe as the alleged stabber refused to drop his knife and walked toward them outside the First Presbyterian Church.
Authorities were called to 164th Street in Jamaica at around 3:45pm after the suspect allegedly stabbed the 40-year-old guard, who worked for the church.
The guard was stabbed outside the church’s administrative building after a woman noticed the man acting “erratically” with a knife in his hand. The injured guard retreated back inside the building and 911 was called.
The suspect was spotted on an adjacent staircase of the church once police arrived and charged at the officers.
The suspect and stabbed victim were both taken to local hospitals in stable condition.
Richard Moncrieffe was charged with Attempter Murder in the Second Degree, Assault in the First Degree, Menacing a Police Officer, Criminal Possession of a Weapon Fourth Degree ad related charges.
