Oklahoma teen assaulted at Bryan County party

BRYAN COUNTY, Okla.- 17-year-old Ayden Hulsey and some of his friends from Denison decided to go to a party in Wade, Oklahoma Friday night, and what sounded like a good time quickly turned into a nightmare.

“I was just getting beat until somebody had seen enough of it.”

As Ayden and a friend were trying to leave, they asked some of the people at the party to move their vehicles.

“They didn’t take to that very well,” said Ayden Hulsey. “They got very upset and very agitated and the next thing I know, my friend is getting jumped right next to me and I go over there and I try to help him out. The next thing I know, I’m getting jumped.”

Several people jumped in to attack Ayden, and others got it on video.

When his father, Adam Hulsey, first saw the video, he was mortified.

“I made it 15 seconds before I buckled to my knees, screamed at the police officer to turn it off, and then I just grabbed my son and held him,” Adam Hulsey said. “He was at that point consoling me.”

Ayden now has numerous injuries, including a sprained ankle and wrist, a concussion, and several marks and bruises on his face from where he was kicked with a boot.

Despite all the trauma Ayden has experienced, he and his family are making an effort to stay positive, thanking the community for their extensive support.

“[I] want to thank everyone for [helping] our family, and for everyone else out there that’s been to a similar experience,” Adam Hulsey said.

Ayden and Adam noted Braydon Roberts of the Bryan County Sheriff’s Office as playing a key role in making sure Ayden was safe that night, and for continuing to seek justice.

“Judgment and justice for my son is what he deserves,” Adam Hulsey said. “[It’s] what will work for me and what he will have.”

Bryan County sheriffs and district attorney’s investigators say they’re working to identify those involved in the attack, and ask that anyone at the party with information come forward and contact them.
