One dead following officer-involved shooting at McGuire Plaza in Oklahoma City

OKLAHOMA CITY  — One person is dead after an officer-involved shooting at McGuire Plaza on 1316 NE 12th Street in Oklahoma City.

Police said they responded to a domestic dispute around 8 am Thursday.

According to officials, when they showed up, a man was outside pointing a gun at numerous people before running inside the building when he saw officers.

Officers followed the suspect inside the building.

According to the Oklahoma City Police Department, as officers entered the lobby area of the building, the suspect pointed his gun at officers and fired one shot at them.

OKCPD said the incident ended when the suspect was shot and killed by an officer.

The suspect has been identified as 31-year-old Azjaynee Owens-Bey.

Officials said the officer involved is MSgt. Daniel Higginbottom.

OKCPD said MSgt. Higginbottom has been placed on routine administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation.

Police were not injured in the incident.
