ORANGE COUNTY, FL — The Orange County Sheriff’s Office has released body-worn camera footage showing a violent encounter between a deputy and 24-year-old Charles Junior St. Fleur, who was shot during the struggle but survived. The incident occurred on the morning of June 7 behind the Save Discount Store on North Hiawassee Road.
The video shows a deputy confronting St. Fleur, which quickly escalates into a physical altercation. During the struggle, St. Fleur is seen throwing two handguns toward a fence and repeatedly striking the deputy in the head while attempting to break free.
After briefly escaping the deputy’s grasp, St. Fleur runs back to the guns, throwing one over the fence before briefly turning toward the deputy and discarding the second weapon as well. He then attempts to flee on foot, at which point the deputy fires and hits him.
St. Fleur was transported to the hospital, treated for his injuries, and later charged with aggravated battery on a law enforcement officer and two counts of carrying a concealed weapon by a convicted felon.
The incident is one of two deputy-involved shootings that occurred in Orange County on the same day. Investigations are ongoing.
