Outrage after video shows drunk husband beating wife with belt in India

A disturbing video circulating on social media shows a man allegedly assaulting his wife with a belt after tying her hands to poles in the Prakasam district of Andhra Pradesh, India.

According to local reports, the incident took place in Kalujuvvalapadu SC Colony of Tarlupadu mandal, where the man, identified as Gurunadham Balaji, allegedly attacked his wife while under the influence of alcohol.

The footage shows the woman’s hands tied to poles as she cries out in pain while being struck repeatedly. Another woman, said to be the victim’s mother, tries to intervene but the assailant continues the beating.

Witnesses say the man also kicked his wife during the assault. The video was reportedly filmed by an onlooker and has sparked widespread outrage online, with calls for strict action against the accused.

Locals told media outlets that the victim, who has three daughters and a son with Gurunadham, works at a local bakery to support their children. They said Gurunadham allegedly lives in Hyderabad with another woman and frequently returns to the village to harass his wife and demand the money she earns.

As of now, no police action has been confirmed and the exact timing of the incident remains unclear. Authorities have not issued a statement on the case.
