Oxygen tank explodes in Ohio trash truck near 2 workers

WHITEHALL — Two Ohio sanitation workers had a close call this week when an oxygen tank exploded in their trash truck.

The city of Whitehall shared a video on social media showing the workers emptying trash cans into the truck on Wednesday. As one worker goes to dump a second trash can, an explosion happens, shooting trash at the workers and into the street.

Moments after the explosion, a fire can be seen coming from the back of the truck. The workers used a fire extinguisher to put it out.

The city said the explosion was caused by an oxygen tank that was illegally placed in the garbage can.
