ESCAMBIA COUNTY, Fla. — A 49-year-old Pensacola man was arrested Thursday evening after a video made rounds on social media showing him allegedly harming a dog.
Charles David Thornton II is charged with animal cruelty. He remains in Escambia County Jail on $20,000 bond after a judge upped it from $5,000 Friday morning.
Several viewers messaged WEAR News about the video, which was filmed by a neighbor on North Y Street and posted to Facebook.
The sheriff’s office says Animal Control referred the case back to them after further investigation.
Following the case exchange, an arrest warrant was issued.
The Escambia County Sheriff’s Office confirms deputies arrested Thornton at his place of work.
