ARIZONA — A Phoenix police officer was left with a serious leg injury requiring immediate surgery following a hit-and-run accident Monday morning, Phoenix police Sgt. Ann Justu said.
The incident took place at approximately 12:30am Monday December 27 on Bethany Home Road near 26th Avenue, according to police.
Surveillance video from Lunch Box Cafe shows the unidentified officer riding his motorcycle before hitting the back passenger side of a minivan. The impact threw the officer off his bike, sending him skidding several feet along the street.
The driver of the minivan then stopped for a moment but eventually fled the scene, the footage shows.
Police were not able to obtain a good description of the minivan, noting only that it is a dark color.
