Sanford police release video in drive-by shooting that left girl with head wound

SANFORD, Fla. – More than a year after a 17-year-old girl was struck in the head and another teen was wounded in a drive-by shooting, the Sanford Police Department is renewing a call for help in identifying suspects.

Investigators on Monday released surveillance video of the shooting, which happened April 29, 2024, in the 100 block of Scott Drive.

The video shows one of the victims standing in a driveway when bullets began to hit the ground nearby.

The victim ran away as a red SUV drove in front of the home, and someone inside continued to shoot from the vehicle, the video shows.

Another video clip was also released, which police said showed three suspects leaving the vehicle at an apartment complex.

According to investigators, the vehicle appeared to be occupied by four people at the time of the shooting and has since been located.

Police said persons of interest have been identified, along with leads, which detectives continue to pursue.

Anyone with information about the crime or identity of people involved is asked to contact the Sanford Police Department or Crimeline at 800-423-TIPS (8477) or visit www.crimeline.org.
