Seagoville parolee drags cop while trying to steal patrol car after chase

SEAGOVILLE, Texas — A 36-year-old parolee with a lengthy criminal record was arrested Sunday after leading police on a chase in a stolen truck and attempting to steal a patrol car during a violent struggle.

Police identified the suspect as Brandon Roy Boothe, who faces multiple felony charges including robbery, aggravated assault against a public servant, unauthorized use of a vehicle, evading arrest, and unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon. No bond has been set.

The incident began around 7:08 p.m. when an officer spotted Boothe driving a stolen Chevrolet pickup. He fled, initiating a chase that ended when he crashed into another motorist. Boothe then fled on foot, tried to take control of a police vehicle, and dragged an officer while repeatedly crashing the patrol car into the stolen truck. After more than two minutes of struggle, another officer subdued Boothe with a Taser.

The officer sustained minor injuries, while Boothe was treated at a hospital before being booked into Dallas County Jail. Police recovered two handguns and ammunition from the stolen vehicle.

Authorities said Boothe is a documented member of the white supremacist gang Peckerwood and had an active warrant for a parole violation.
