Southern California man violently beaten by attacker yelling racial slurs

An Inglewood man recalls fearing for his life as he was brutally assaulted outside his home by an attacker who yelled racial slurs at him.

On April 15, Javier Ibarra, 41, was heading to work when he opened a gate outside his home on the 200 block of West Hyde Park Boulevard at 6:40 a.m.

As Ibarra’s head was turned toward the gate, surveillance video captured the male suspect sprinting towards Ibarra from behind and punching him in the head.

The suspect, who was wearing a facemask, gloves, and a matching green-colored hoodie and sweatpants set, repeatedly punches Ibarra in the head and face as he tries to defend himself.

“He ran around my truck and he yelled at me very quickly, ‘You f****** Mexican! I hate you!’ and he started to punch me,” Ibarra recalled.

The suspect eventually grabs Ibarra and throws him onto the ground while Ibarra is heard screaming in pain.

“All over my face, there was a lot of blood,” Ibarra said. “My eye was completely closed. It was a very horrible experience because when I fell on the floor, I was thinking, ‘This guy, he’s going to kill me.’ I didn’t know what to do.”

Ibarra is heard yelling for help and calling his wife’s name as the man continued punching and kicking him.

Surveillance video showed his wife stepping outside before quickly darting back inside to grab her cellphone so she could record the suspect, but the man was able to escape.
