ORMOND BEACH, Fla. — A sunbather was injured after a Jeep backed into him on a Florida beach.
The Volusia Sheriff’s Office (VSO) said the beachgoer was injured on April 5 after a Jeep was attempting to back up into a parking spot in Ormond Beach. It happened at around 10:43 a.m. near the Cardinal Drive Beach ramp.
Investigators said that a 33-year-old Ocala man was sunbathing when the driver of a Jeep traveled outside of the travel lanes to back into a parking spot and ran him over.
The man sustained injuries to his thigh and arm, he was taken to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries where he was reported to be in stable condition, according to the news release.
The driver of the Jeep — a 61-year-old woman from Ormond Beach — remained on scene and cooperated with investigators. The sheriff’s office said the woman showed no signs of impairment, she was cited with careless driving.
