SEATTLE — Surveillance video shows a recent gun battle along Aurora Avenue North that left one person hurt.
Seattle police said the shootout occurred around 3:33 a.m. on Saturday, July 6, at the corner of Aurora Avenue North and 101st Street.
The video shows an argument between at least one man and several other people.
Moments after the confrontation began, the footage shows one of the suspects pulling out a gun and firing indiscriminately toward an opposing group. From there, other people returned gunfire, resulting in at least 15 gunshots within five seconds, causing neighbors to be jolted awake in the middle of the night.
“It’s scary to think how much damage a gun can do,” said one neighbor who took cover in his home. “It’s unfair (to commit these shootings) for everyone who has to live here, especially for people who don’t have the option to move. Our next-door neighbors have two children, two little kids, and it just kills me inside that they have to listen to this.”
Seattle police said a woman was shot in the leg during the shootout but that she should be OK in the long run.
According to Seattle police, officers arrived and located over 30 shell casings in the area of the shooting, as well as bullet strikes to several businesses, including the electronics store owned by Peter Toms.
“What’s the shooting going on about? Why are people shooting at each other?” Toms wondered. “This is a major North American city, Seattle, Washington, and we’re having shootings on this corner over here.”
No arrests have been made in this case.
