CATHEDRAL CITY, Calif. – Newly released surveillance video shows the moment a Cathedral City police officer was attacked by a knife-wielding man during a call on July 27.
The officer had responded to a report of a verbal altercation between family members when a man suddenly rushed out of a home and lunged at him with a knife. Video shows the suspect repeatedly stabbing as two older family members tried to intervene.
Police said the officer suffered only minor injuries before regaining control of the weapon and subduing the attacker.
The suspect, identified as Juan Francisco Sosa Jr., was arrested and booked on suspicion of attempted murder.
The investigation remains ongoing.
