Suspect opens fire on police in Jackson neighborhood

JACKSON, Mich. – A doorbell camera caught part of a police chase through a Jackson neighborhood on Wednesday.

Video shows a minivan speeding down Orange Street, stopping briefly before taking off again. Over a dozen shots can be heard fired on the video as several police cars chase after the van.

The suspect had been accused of shooting his brother in Lenawee County approximately 40 minutes before Jackson Police caught up with him when a tracking device showed he was in Jackson County and he allegedly ran away in the maroon van.

The shooting resulted in one officer being shot in the arm and left the suspect dead.

Michigan State Police is investigating the incident.
