Suspect shot by Oklahoma officer following domestic disturbance call

OKLAHOMA CITY — Police are investigating a shooting involving one of their officers after a man was shot and hospitalized early Wednesday morning.

The incident happened around 1:30 a.m. near Southwest 30th and Kentucky Avenue following a domestic disturbance call.

According to police, a woman reported a man outside her home with a gun, possibly firing shots.

Upon arrival, officers spotted the suspect, leading to a foot chase through the neighborhood.

Police said there was a confrontation, one officer fired his weapon, and the suspect was hit.

The suspect reportedly sustained minor injuries and was taken to the hospital.

Capt. Valerie Littlejohn of the Oklahoma City Police Department said, “No officers were injured. There was a firearm located there where the suspect was when the officers took him into custody.”

The officer who discharged his weapon has been placed on administrative leave pending the investigation.

The crime scene unit and detectives gathered evidence related to the initial call and the officer-involved shooting.

Police have not released details about the suspect or potential charges related to the domestic disturbance and alleged gunfire.
