Suspected gang boss arrested in Ecuador pool hall triple homicide
ECUADOR — Authorities have arrested a man accused of leading a triple homicide that shook a coastal community earlier this year.
The Ecuadorian Army, working alongside the National Police’s specialized homicide unit (DINASED), carried out an operation in Naranjal, in Guayas province, targeting urban areas and nearby recreational zones. During the operation, officers detained Ángel B., known by the alias “Ángel.”

Investigators describe him as a mid-level target and an alleged member of the organized crime group Los Lobos. He had an active detention order tied to an ongoing murder investigation.
Authorities say Ángel B. is suspected of acting as the ringleader in the January 9, 2026 triple killing inside the “Bola 8” pool hall in Naranjal. The attack left three people dead and triggered heightened security concerns across the province.
Following his arrest, he was transferred to the custody of the Attorney General’s Office. Prosecutors are expected to pursue charges including murder, criminal association, and related offenses.
Officials say the investigation remains active as authorities work to determine his exact role in the triple homicide and examine possible links to other violent crimes in Naranjal and surrounding areas.
The Armed Forces and National Police stated they will continue joint operations aimed at dismantling organized crime groups operating in Guayas province.
