Teen mows down mother pushing baby in stroller in Venice hit-and-run

CALIFORNIA — A 16-year-old teen driver under the influence of drugs mowed down a mother pushing her baby in a stroller — before attempting to take off in Venice, according to video and reports.

Police say the incident unfolded on August 6 at Speedway and Galleon streets.

Video shows the woman pushing her child in a stroller when a car drove straight into them, sending the baby flying into the air.

The driver then kept on going in an attempt to flee the scene — but was quickly chased down by angry onlookers.

Police say the 16-year-old driver was under the influence of drugs and was driving a rental car. How he got possession of the car remains unknown.

He was arrested and booked into custody on suspected DUI and hit-and-run — and was later released to his parents because of his young age.

Neither the woman or the child suffered serious injuries and are both recovering.
