Teen shot in head, killed by friend during shootout in Brooklyn
NEW YORK — Surveillance video shows the moment a teen was accidentally shot in the head by his friend during a shootout in Brooklyn.
16-year-old Cahlil Pennington was hanging out with a group of friends Tuesday near Miller and Pitkin Aves. in East New York — when a gunman approached the group at approximately 1:30pm and opened fire, according to police.
One of the teens was struck in the torso and video shows the three youths running down Pitkin Avenue.
The teen struck by gunfire returned fire but instead of striking his rival, the gunman accidentally shot Pennington in the head, who collapsed to the ground at the corner of Miller Avenue.
Pennington was taken to Brookdale Hospital where he was pronounced dead, police said.
The other teens fled the scene and remain at large.
