Teen wrestler sucker punches opponent after Beat the Streets Chicago tournament match
A teenage wrestler has been cited after he sucker punched his opponent following a match at a Chicago-area competition.
The events took place on April 8 at the Beat the Streets Chicago tournament at Oak Park and River Forest High School in Oak Park, Illinois.
Video of the incident shows 14-year-old Cooper Corder extending his hand to his opponent, Hafid Alicea, also 14, after Alicea lost their freestyle match 14-2.
Alicea initially appears to also extends his hand, as if getting ready to shake, but instead sucker punches Corder in the face.
Alicea was cited for assault and was charged under the Village of Oak Park code on Thursday.
A hearing is scheduled for next month.
