Thief snatches $8000 hat off Hasidic man’s head in Brooklyn
BROOKLYN, New York — A thief ran up behind a Hasidic Jewish man and snatched his hat from atop his head, police said.
The incident happened Friday at Wallabout Street and Marcy Avenue in Williamsburg near 6:15pm.
The traditional fur hat, called a Shtreimel, is worth $8,000 and is worn by Hasidic men on Shabbat and during holidays, police said.
The suspect ran off and remains at large.
