Two dead, twenty injured when passenger bus, truck collide in Argentina

Two killed and more than twenty people injuried following passenger bus, truck collision in Argentina.

“The accident took place at the intersection of Provincial Route 21 and Cristianía Avenue. According to the images, the truck collided sideways with a bus and then collided head-on with another vehicle.

A serious accident occurred this morning in  Ciudad Evita, La Matanza , when a truck traveling at high speed collided with a passenger bus. The impact left two dead and more than 20 injured , including a woman who suffered the amputation of her right arm.

The accident took place at the intersection of Provincial Route 21 and Cristianía Avenue. According to the images, the truck collided sideways with a bus and then collided head-on with another vehicle.

Police sources told Infobae that 12 people with minor injuries were taken to the 
Dr. Alberto Balestrini Hospital, two to the  Paroissien Hospital and five to the 
Simplemente Evita Hospital , of which two are in serious condition. Three other people with multiple injuries were taken to the Polyclinic.

The truck driver was arrested, although he has not yet been given a breathalyzer test. “He does not appear to be drunk,” authorities said. Among the injured are passengers on the bus and the occupants of the truck.

According to Damián Dias, head of the La Matanza Volunteer Fire Department, the truck driver suffered an  open fracture in his right leg, while two women on the bus were seriously injured , one of them with an amputated arm.

Dias also said that a mother and her daughter were thrown from the vehicle after the impact and that the truck driver’s passenger suffered injuries. The driver of the second vehicle that was hit escaped unharmed.

Police from the Provincial Police and firefighters from the Gregorio de Laferrere and Tapiales detachments intervened at the scene .
