OAK PARK, Il – Two people were electrocuted after touching a rail on the CTA Green Line on August 5th in Oak Park, according to new video and reports.
The duo were traveling with a group of friends to Lollapalooza in Grant Park when officials believe they jumped on the track at the Ridgeland Green Line CTA station to take pictures.
A man was electrocuted when he touched the energized third rail, and a woman was electrocuted while trying to help the man. Several of their friends jumped down and removed them from the tracks.
The man was in cardiac arrest and was transported to Loyola University Medical Center in critical condition. A long-term prognosis remains unknown at this time.
The woman was conscious when the Fire Department arrived and was also taken to Loyola.
