Two stabbed during rush‑hour on Grand Central subway train
NEW YORK, NY — During the Wednesday morning rush hour, a violent confrontation aboard a southbound No. 5 subway train near Grand Central Terminal resulted in two men being stabbed, according to NYPD.
- A 32-year-old man engaged in a verbal dispute with an unidentified attacker and was stabbed in the stomach and buttocks.
- A 28-year-old bystander was also stabbed in the abdomen after getting caught in the melee .
The incident occurred shortly after 7:00 a.m. as the train pulled into the crowded station. Cellphone video shows the assailant repeatedly stabbing one victim before fleeing with a yellow bag.
Both victims were taken to Bellevue Hospital in stable condition. Police initially detained a person of interest but later released him, confirming that the suspect remains at large.
