UKRAINE — New ambush video shows the moment Ukrainian Azov Battalion soldiers launched a counterattack in Mariupol, despite being outnumbered by Russian troops.
Footage taken from the air appears to show Ukrainian soldiers from the Azov Battalion, making their way in the besieged city, engaging into a firefight with Russian troops — pinning them and throwing grenades at their position.
Mariupol has been under siege for more than 50 days. There is no water, no light, no heating and communications in the city. Not many can find their relatives who have remained in the city since the Russian invasion.
The last known resistance in Mariupol is a group of roughly 500 Ukrainian fighters from the Azov regiment.
The video shows Ukrainian soldiers ambush Russian soldiers in Mariupol, pinning them and tossing grenades over a brick wall. Some of the Russian troops slither away from the blast while others appear lifeless.
Ukraine’s prime minister, Denys Anatoliyovych Shmyhal, has vowed to “fight till the end.”
