NEW YORK – A 66-year-old innocent bystander was struck in the head and killed following a drive-by shooting in Upper Manhattan on Tuesday night, according to new video and reports.
Reda Girgis was standing at the corner of West 162nd Street and Broadway in Washington Heights shortly after 7pm when he was struck by a bullet to the head, according to police.
Police said he was not the intended target.
According to eyewitnesses, the suspects firing shots out of a dark gray SUV, reportedly an Audi with New Jersey plates, when Girgis was hit, investigators said.
Girgis, who lived on that same corner, was transported to Metropolitan Hospital Center where he was pronounced dead.
No arrests have been made and a motive behind the shooting or its intended target remain unknown at this time.
