VIDEO: Shoe Palace employee shot dead while trying to intervene in dispute between customers

LOS ANGELES — A Shoe Palace employee was shot dead while trying to intervene in a dispute between customers, eyewitness video of the incident shows.

The shooting unfolded shortly before 12:30pm Wednesday, near the Shoe Palace store located at 7725 Melrose Avenue, reports say.

Witnesses and investigators said the incident started after an argument broke out amongst a group of men and women during a shoe raffle in front of the store.

Witnesses said 26-year-old Jayren Bradford was trying to de-escalate the situation when he was shot.

Bradford was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The Los Angeles Police Department said they arrested a 16-year-old teenager Thursday in connection with the homicide.

His identity is being withheld because of his age.
