Video shows pickup truck dangerously pass school bus in Ohio
GALLIPOLIS, Ohio — The Ohio State Highway Patrol released video showing a pickup truck dangerously passing a school bus on the shoulder while students were crossing the road.
The incident happened May 1 and was captured on the bus’s camera, according to Gallipolis City Schools. Troopers said the driver was later located and cited.
“With school back in session, this is a reminder: STOP for school buses when their lights are flashing and the stop arm is extended,” troopers wrote in a statement.
In Ohio, drivers must stop at least 10 feet from a school bus with its stop arm out on any road with fewer than four lanes. Violators face fines up to $500 and a license suspension of up to one year.
