CALIFORNIA — Video posted online shows the moment goods were stolen during a smash-and-grab robbery at the Del Amo swap meet in Rancho Dominguez.
The incident took place at around 11:30am Thursday, according to Deputy Grace Medrano of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
Police say a group of thieves with hammers targeted a jewelry booth, smashed display cases and pushed employees to the ground before taking off with jewelry, cash and other items.
The suspects reportedly “faked a fight” to distract security guards before breaking the glass and grabbing the items, a witness of the incident said.
Two suspects were detained and authorities are looking for at least another five, according to police.
