Violent home invasion in Ecuador leaves two people dead

DAULE, Ecuador – Two family members were killed early Saturday after armed men stormed a guarded community in Daule, according to a statement from the neighborhood administration.

The incident happened around 2:30 a.m. when multiple suspects armed with high-caliber weapons entered the community, threatening security personnel, seizing their weapons and cell phones, and cutting off all communication.

The attackers then moved to a residence in Block 17, Villa 1, where they fatally shot two members of the same family.

The security guard managed to call ECU 911 immediately, but authorities said police arrived about an hour later. By morning, National Police personnel had collected information from the scene and seized the DVRs from the guardhouse’s security cameras as part of their investigation.

Community leaders have requested additional police presence at the guardhouse, but officials say only two patrol vehicles cover the entire Aurora area, making permanent protection at the site impossible.

The neighborhood administration said updates on the case will be shared through the community’s official channels.
