Walgreens shoplifter struck by car after fleeing San Francisco store

SAN FRANCISCO — A man reportedly known to repeatedly steal from a Walgreens at 9th and Market was denied entry on Thursday but still managed to get inside moments later, according to witnesses.

The security guard on duty said the suspect waited until his back was turned before rushing in, grabbing several items, and running out into traffic. As he fled across Market Street, the suspect was struck by a car.

Police and paramedics responded to the scene shortly after. The suspect’s current condition has not been released.
