BRANDON, Fla. – The Florida Highway Patrol reports that it has arrested one of the two individuals seen on video assaulting a driver during a road rage incident last Tuesday.
Authorities say Shaniah Faith Cofield and Peter Allen McClarin were involved in a minor collision with a 31-year-old Brandon woman at the corner of US 301 and Martin Luther King Boulevard.
Both Cofield and McClarin can be seen bashing a 2019 Chevy sedan in a video posted on social media. The man can be heard screaming at the driver to “Get out of the car!”
FHP said the man was using a firearm to try and break the car’s window.
FHP added that at least one gunshot was fired at the Chevy before the witness began recording.
Cofield could also be seen jumping on the front hood of the car at one point while it was in stopped in traffic at a light.
The witness who recorded the video told another bystander that the person in the Chevy had hit the couple’s car and driven away.
Troopers are still searching for McClarin.
