Woman bit by K-9 at Mayfair Mall suffering from severe complications
WAUWATOSA, Wis. — An update Monday evening in the viral video of a K-9 latching on to a woman’s ankle at Mayfair Mall in Wauwatosa and not letting go.
It is learned that a woman has now hired a prominent civil rights attorney.
Attorney B’Ivory LaMarr identified his client as 19-year-old Amirah Walls of Milwaukee.
This all started Friday evening at Mayfair shortly after 6 p.m. A security dog latched on to the young woman, let go, and then bit back, as the security guard struggled to gain control for more than thirty seconds.
In a second clip, the dog finally releases, and Walls stands up and limps away.
LaMarr says she is injured, and suffering “severe complications.”
Wauwatosa police said the security team, Andy Frain services, initially called them about the fight. Police said upon arrival, security told them the fight was over, but did not mention a K-9 bit someone.
LaMarr said his client said she and her friend were attacked by three young women and didn’t have a choice but to defend herself and her friend.
After seeing the viral video Saturday, Wauwatosa police followed up, and determined on Monday, “no citations were deemed appropriate.”
WISN 12 News went to Mayfair on Monday, looking for answers from the security company.
Multiple security guards said they were unable to provide any information, refusing to comment.
A spokesperson for Brookfield Properties, which operates the mall, said comment would only come from Andy Frain’s corporate office in Aurora, Illinois.
An attorney for Andy Frain Services Inc. sent a statement late Monday afternoon:
“On March 28, 2025, four (4) females engaged in an act of violence at Mayfair Mall, jeopardizing the safety and security of the community. Security personnel and a specialized gun detection K9 team immediately responded to ensure that no one was in possession of a firearm. Local law enforcement was contacted. No injuries were reported, and all four individuals involved fled the mall before law enforcement arrived.
“The safety and security of patrons remains the focus at Mayfair Mall.”
“Mayfair has failed to implement effective, humane solutions, raising serious questions about the deployment and oversight of security measures on the premises,” LaMarr said.
He says that a lawsuit is not off the table, and at this time, the security company has not apologized to his client.
