FORT GREENE, NY — Video released shows the moment a woman was chased and beaten during an attempted robbery in Brooklyn.
The incident took place on September 28 at around 4:40pm as the woman was walking near the corner of Saint Edwards and Willoughby streets in Fort Greene.
Police say the 65-year-old victim had just cashed in the money she earned from collecting cans when the suspect got off his bike and chased her.
The suspect then grabbed her purse, but when she resisted, he hit her multiple times in the face before dragging her to the ground, according to the video.
Despite the attack, the woman ultimately held onto her bag, and the suspect got back on his bike and fled the scene empty handed, police said.
The victim suffered pain and swelling to her face as well as back pain and cuts to her body. She was taken to the hospital for treatment in stable condition.
