Woman shot in leg after juvenile drops gun inside Memphis gas station
MEMPHIS, Tennessee — Surveillance video shows the moment a juvenile suspect dropped a handgun inside a Raleigh gas station, causing it to discharge and strike a woman.
The incident happened just before 7 p.m. at an Exxon station at Stage Road and Coleman. Officers arrived to find a woman suffering from a gunshot wound to the leg. Police said she is expected to recover.
According to Memphis police, multiple armed juveniles were inside the store at the time. Video shows the victim standing at the counter when one suspect, wearing a gray jacket, black jeans, and white sneakers, walked behind her holding a gun.
Moments later, the weapon slipped from his hands and fired as it hit the ground. The suspect and another juvenile immediately ran out of the store.
Police say both fled in a white Chevrolet Cruze and remain at large. Authorities are asking anyone with information to come forward.
