Worker killed after wooden beam falls on his head in Paraguay
PARAGUAY — A construction worker was killed after a wooden beam fell and struck his head while he was at a residence, according to reports.
The incident happened around 3 p.m. at a home on Listo Valois Street in the Virgen de Fátima neighborhood of Ciudad del Este.
The victim was identified as 58-year-old Doroteo Sosa Quiñónez. Authorities said he died at the scene after suffering a severe head injury when the wooden support beam came loose and fell on him.
According to police, the beam had been positioned on a structure at the property. As the victim attempted to open a gate, the beam suddenly dislodged and struck him in the head.
Emergency responders were called, but the man was already showing no signs of life when they arrived.
The case has been turned over to prosecutors as authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the fatal accident.
